Prickly Pear, Canyon Wall

Prickly Pear (opuntia opuntia) is most famous for two things: you either get wounded by it's spines or you try to sample the red fruit and get wounded by it's spines. Either way, you usually loose. Common in the west prickly pear sometimes, due to the nutrients in the soil, takes on the color of the local soil. If you're a desert lover like me you'll appreciate how this cacti almost tries to hide against it's backdrop in this image.
