Wave Series
On a beach in Washington I found myself
surprisingly entertained watching this rock as
waves gently shifted and changed the sand around
this little rock. Sometimes more sand would pile
up. Sometimes it would be taken away. Trying to
figure out the patterns and amounts of sand
deposit, despite the description, was kind of fun.
Since then, I've had fun when I display these in
galleries. I like to hang them up in no particular
order and watch people - who personally may have no
interest in the pictures - stand there and argue
about what the order of the images are. People seem
to have fun trying to solve this as if it were a
riddle. Sometimes I've walked up and mentioned that
since it is a wave there is no beginning or end.
Sometimes, for some people, this comment makes them
more thoughtful. Often it just makes them walk
away.
