As a primordal element, Gaia is the mother earth. According to Greek Mythology, Khaos was the very first element, then Gaia was created, followed by Eros (love). Gaia became known as the universal mother, or mother earth, as she was the element from which all gods and all races were created. (Notice the beauty of the order of the universe and all Love being born out of Chaos!)
